TechnoKids Teacher Computer Curriculum is a set of technology projects used by an education organization to offer professional development to staff.

Each technology projects has relevant activities for teachers to help them learn how to use Microsoft applications:

  • Microsoft Word: Make a handout that includes a calendar of events in Microsoft Word.
  • Microsoft Excel: Create an electronic grading book that stores, calculates, and graphs marks in Microsoft Excel.
  • Microsoft PowerPoint: Make a presentation for an Open House in Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Windows Internet Explorer: Acquire effective search strategies for using the Internet using Windows Internet Explorer.
  • Email: Email parents or colleagues using Hotmail.
  • Windows Operating System: Customize Windows settings to make the computer easier for children to use.
  • Hardware: Learn about computer parts and their function.
  • Technology Integration: Explore strategies for integrating technology into curriculum.

Introduction to Email Technology Project

Introduction to Email: In this project, educators are introduced to electronic mail or email. Using the web-based email program Hotmail, they register for an account, create an address book, send and receive messages, organize folders, and customize preferences. Connections throughout the learning activities are made to the teaching profession and effective ways it can be used to communicate with colleagues, students, and parents.

 

Introduction to Excel Technology Project

Introduction to Excel: In this project, educators are introduced to the program Microsoft Excel by producing an electronic grade book that stores grades, calculates marks, displays the class average, and graphs data. Connections throughout the learning activities are made to teaching spreadsheets skills to students.

Introduction to Hardware Technology Project

Introduction to Hardware: In this project, educators learn about hardware. The introduction includes input, output, and storage devices, as well as the microprocessor, RAM, ROM, graphics card, and sound card. Upon completion, educators will have a thorough understanding of each component of the personal computer.

 

Introduction to the Internet Technology Project

Introduction to the Internet: In this project, educators acquire introductory knowledge of the Internet, fundamental search skills, and methodology for integrating telecommunication skills into lesson planning.

 

Introduction to PowerPoint Technology Project Introduction to PowerPoint: In this project, educators learn how to create a presentation using the multimedia software Microsoft PowerPoint. This introduction includes slide layouts, formatting options, and slide show setup techniques. Throughout the project, an emphasis is placed on using PowerPoint as an instruction tool.

Introduction to Windows Technology Project

Introduction to Windows: In this project, educators are introduced to the Windows operating system. They learn how to navigate within this environment, as well as how to customize settings, use Windows programs, and setup accounts. The emphasis is on acquiring skills to create kid-friendly computers.

Introduction to Word Technology Project

Introduction to Word: In this project, educators learn how to create a newsletter using the word processing software Microsoft Word. This introduction includes font formatting techniques, picture arrangement, table design, and page setup. Throughout the project, connections are made to teacher practice and student learning.

Technology Integration

Technology Integration: In this project, educators learn how to integrate Information and Communication Technology into their teaching practice. Topics discussed include the impact of ICT on education, planning learning activities that include ICT, solving problems associated with ICT, and customizing ICT to meet student needs.
