PROJECT-BASED K–12 TECHNOLOGY CURRICULUM

Teaching the skills of tomorrow...today!

For over three decades, TechnoKids has helped students turn technology skills into meaningful action. They do not simply learn software—they use technology to investigate, communicate, code, design, solve problems and create original work.

OUR CURRICULUM PHILOSOPHY

Technology becomes meaningful
when students use it to create.

TechnoKids was built on a simple belief: learning should be fun, personally meaningful and connected to the real world. Technology skills are taught inside projects where students make decisions, explore ideas and produce something that matters.

Not isolated commands→Transferable technology skills→Original student creations

A CURRICULUM THAT EVOLVES

The tools change.
Our purpose remains.

TechnoKids has grown with every major shift in technology education—from foundational computer skills and digital productivity to coding, data, artificial intelligence and responsible digital creation.

What has remained constant is our project-based approach. Students learn new technologies by applying them to authentic tasks, solving problems and communicating ideas.

HOW OUR CURRICULUM IS DEVELOPED

Purposefully designed—from standards to student creation.

Every course combines curriculum research, instructional design and technology expertise. The process begins with what students should understand and be able to do, then builds a meaningful project around those outcomes.

01

Begin with the future

We study technology, education standards and the skills students will need next—not only the tools used today.

02

Choose a meaningful context

Each course is built around an age-appropriate theme, authentic problem or professional role that gives technology a purpose.

03

Design the project

A culminating digital product makes learning visible: a story, game, website, campaign, program, model or intelligent solution.

04

Scaffold the skills

Assignments move from guided exploration and practice toward independent decisions, complex tools and higher-order thinking.

05

Plan for every learner

UDL, visual instructions, examples, templates, choice, reviews and extensions reduce barriers while preserving challenge.

06

Align, assess and improve

Standards, reflection and authentic assessment guide course development. Content is reviewed and updated as technology evolves.

LEARNING BY CREATING

Every course leads to something students can be proud of.

Students take on authentic roles—author, researcher, designer, programmer, entrepreneur or engineer—and respond to a meaningful challenge.

THE CURRICULUM IN PRACTICE

Skills return, connect and deepen.

A spiral curriculum does not teach a skill once and move on. Students revisit important ideas in new projects, use them across subject areas and take on greater technical and ethical responsibility as they progress.

LEARNING THREAD

Coding & computational thinking

01
Primary

TechnoTales

Animate a fairy tale in ScratchJr. Story sequence becomes a first experience with events and coding.

02
Elementary

TechnoArcade

Design playable Scratch games. Learners revisit sequencing while adding logic, interaction, testing and debugging.

03
Middle years

TechnoPython

Build games with text-based Python, applying variables, loops and conditionals with greater precision and independence.

LEARNING THREAD

Technology integrated with subjects

01
Language + CS

TechnoTales

Combine storytelling, character development and oral language with beginner programming.

02
Research + literacy

TechnoResearch

Use Word or Docs to investigate a topic, evaluate information, organize ideas and communicate findings.

03
Science + citizenship

TechnoEarth

Research an environmental issue and build an interactive Google Sites infographic that informs and inspires action.

LEARNING THREAD

Safe, ethical & creative AI

01
Primary

TechnoHelper Bots AI

Train simple models and ask whether an AI helper is kind, fair and useful; then code an ethical Helper Bot pledge.

02
Middle years

TechnoBot AI

Design intelligent transport systems while considering safety, copyright and the viewpoints of people affected by AI decisions.

03
Senior

TechnoFuture AI

Create with generative AI while examining benefits, risks, privacy, creative licensing and transparent disclosure of AI use.

LEARNING THREAD

Design thinking & innovation

01
Elementary

TechnoCandy

Investigate a business problem, survey users, analyze real data and recommend an evidence-based design solution.

02
Middle years

TechnoRestaurateur

Use customer preferences to define a concept, design a brand and floor plan, and evaluate whether the venture can succeed.

03
Senior

TechnoPlanner

Act as an event planner, identify client and event-information needs, then design and test a Microsoft Access solution using tables, forms, queries and reports.

LEARNING THREAD

Safe & responsible digital citizenship

01
Primary

TechnoMe

Practice safe, respectful and responsible behavior while sharing creations, commenting positively and explaining personal choices.

02
Elementary

TechnoInternet

Assess trustworthy websites, protect privacy, respect copyright, address cyberbullying and build digital resilience.

03
Junior

TechnoSite

Evaluate websites and search engines, then publish a purposeful website designed for safe navigation, quality content and peer feedback.

The TechnoKids difference: familiar concepts reappear through fresh, age-appropriate projects—moving learners from guided exploration to independent, responsible creation.

THE SKILLS OF TOMORROW

Four connected areas of technology learning.

Students build technical proficiency alongside the critical, creative and ethical thinking needed to apply technology well.

01

Digital Literacy

Find, evaluate, create and communicate information with confidence, purpose and responsibility.

02

Coding

Develop algorithms, computational thinking and problem-solving through block-based and text-based programming.

03

AI Literacy

Understand, question and create with AI while considering accuracy, bias, privacy, ownership and ethics.

04

STEM & Design

Connect technology with science, engineering and mathematics to investigate, prototype and improve solutions.

TECHNOLOGY INTEGRATION

Technology skills connected to the wider curriculum.

Students might publish a biography, analyze survey data, create an environmental campaign, code a game, build an interactive map or develop an AI-supported solution.

This interdisciplinary approach allows TechnoKids projects to enrich computer classes, STEM programs and subjects such as language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, geography, business and the arts.
