In this set of
senior technology projects students acquire
advanced
technology skills. To gain an understanding
of the technology skills refer to the
Technology Skills document. Technology skills:

calculate, and graph data using spreadsheets
- use the
solver and pivot charts to analyze data in
Microsoft Excel
- sort and
filter data in cells
- mail merge
data from a spreadsheet in Microsoft Word

PROJECT DESCRIPTIONS

TechnoConsultant:
In this technology project, students become consultants, whose assignment is to
increase sales for the TechnoFurniture Company. Using the tools
available in Microsoft Excel they manipulate data, graph
information, and calculate figures to grasp an understanding of the
current business situation. Once they have the scrutinized this
information they develop a solution and prepare a proposal in
Microsoft Word.

TechnoDesigner: In this
technology project,
students become web designers. They select a topic and then create a
framed multi-page site that includes interesting content and a
thumbnail photo gallery. Throughout the building process the
emphasis is on design elements and ease of navigation. Upon
completion, the web site is uploaded to become a valuable
contribution to the World Wide Web.

DETAILS |
TechnoFlash: In this technology project,
students
become animators. They learn how to use Macromedia Flash by
animating the story “Out of this World”, which tells the tale of an
alien that travels to another planet in search of adventure. To
begin they experiment with the drawing tools. They then apply this
knowledge to create the first scene in the story. Afterwards, they
learn how to animate objects using static, frame by frame, motion
tweening, shape tweening, and motion paths. They apply their skills
to create the action. To make the story more interesting, sound
effects are then added to the production. Once students have
mastered the basics of animation, they apply their knowledge to
produce their own Flash movie.

TechnoPhotoshop:
In this technology project,
students create a digital scrapbook. To start, students learn how to
use a camera to take high-quality photographs. Once a library of
images has been established, the program Photoshop is used to
transform the pictures into scrapbook pages. Ranging from whimsical
to wacky, each page is a creative expression of the artist.

TechnoPlanner:
In this technology project, students become event planners. They own a company
that plans special occasions such as weddings, birthday parties,
reunions, or proms. They must create a database to help them
organize client and event information. This database will ensure
that they can offer top quality service as no detail will be
forgotten.

TechnoSpecialist:
In this technology project, students become Information Technology Specialists.
The business they work for has began a new initiative that will have
consumers choose the components for their computer. Students must
create an information package to help the customers make good
hardware selections.

In this technology project, students become entrepreneurs. They develop a
business idea for a store by analyzing the marketplace and trends.
After, they produce a detailed business plan that outlines their
marketing, financial, and operation strategy.
